An Ode to Orange
27 Dec
Hi! This is Kim, Erin’s not so fashionable friend. But I do know a thing or two about Photoshop and have a love for a certain color…
We have seen a lot of awesome outfit ideas from Loop Looks since Erin launched the site in February. But have you noticed one tiny little missing thing? Don’t worry if you didn’t notice it right away, it took me awhile too…

Sigh. Erin is missing the BEST color in her wardrobe. ORANGE.
You may not have picked up on it. Erin was sneaky with her “Red is Just Orange Without the Yellow” post, but I did some investigation (left a comment) and found out (via her reply) that:
I don’t know if I even look good in orange!! And unless you count my Milwaukee Marathon shirt (and my March Madness Half Marathon shirt that I’ve never worn) then I don’t own anything orange.
Whaaaaa?! This must be fixed! Immediately! Orange is a FABULOUS color! It’s bright, it brings energy to your outfit, and it doesn’t have to make you look (or feel!) like a pumpkin!
I know Erin is not sure if orange will look good on her, so I took the liberty of doing a little Photoshop magic, to show her that it does:
What if she was an orange leopard instead of a blue one (wait! aren’t leopards already orange?!)?

Maybe it could have been “orange all the things” instead of pink?

You know what would have been most unexpected? Orange pants!!!

And the original inspiration for this post… I think you could’ve swung orange, Erin!

What do you think – does Erin need some orange in her wardrobe? I think Erin would look good in a variety of orange shades, and should give the color a try!
Which color appears the least in your wardrobe? And why is that?!

Pairing the fancy sequined skirt with a neutral colored cardigan and nude heels helps keep it from being too bling-y or overwhelming.
The fact that I paired two pieces that could be considered slightly casual but added heels and a blazer makes my outfit work appropriate without being traditional.
Ever since I bought this tie-neck top I have been wanting to pair it with these pants.
Today I’m going to share with you one of my favorite ways to this lace dress that I’ve come up with yet.

Holy Cow! Would you reach me how to use photoshop? You are a genius.
(And, you’re right. Erin looks lovely in orange.)
If you have photoshop, changing an outfit color is very simple! I can send you a how to link, if you want
Kim is my go-to whenever I need Photoshop help! She is totally a genius.
Ha! You two crack me up. I agree though, Erin you look good in orange!
Isn’t this post hilarious? Kim chose decent shades of orange for me!
This is so awesome! I am totally jealous of your Photoshop skills. I would say that I have the least amount of pink and orange in my wardrobe. I always gravitate towards the same colors (greens and purples) so I enjoy when I go shopping with other people to help open my eyes to other ideas…. And I’m looking forward to that closet consultation with Erin!
I am excited to see what outfits you two come up with when you ship your closet!
I, too, have a lot of purple in my closet. I have to stop myself from buying it sometimes!
I love the orange and that you snuck it in there using Photoshop. Now to find out what Erin thinks! LOL.
My favorite outfit is the one where she took my pink blazer and gingham top and made them orange!
I love orange though admittedly don’t own much of it these days. I noticed recently that I have zero green in my closet and almost zero yellow. I guess I should give those colors a try.
I own zero yellow as well! I guess I don’t gravitate toward that end of the color spectrum.
OMG Kim you are awesome.
When she told me this guest post idea I was so excited to see it! She totally outdid herself.
Hahahaha, such a great post! Gotta admit, I am not a personal fan of wearing orange, either, owning only one item of orange clothing (a gingham shirt, like the one you Photoshopped above!). So I get where Erin’s coming from. I’m not against orange as a color, but I guess I just gravitate toward other colors that tend to look better with my pale skin tone.
BUT! I do like those pumpkin pants with the striped blazer — that’s my favorite Photoshopped inspiration!
Those pants are pretty killer in that color. Food for though!
This is awesome!
I have very little pink in my wardrobe. I have some dark pink (more of a raspberry). But I’m not really into pastels, and I just don’t think pink looks good with my complexion and hair color, but it’s a bit too girly for me. I prefer jewel tones and dark colors (purple, blue, green, burgundy).
I tend to gravitate towards jewel tones as well even though I love pink.
The orange jacket looked really good on you.
I know, right? Who would have guessed?
Orange is one of my favorite colors! Yay for orange. Now I must go change the color on all of my outfit posts!
Okay this I gotta see!
Haha, Erin does look amazing in orange! I think you’ve made your case Kim, the orange looks lovely on her. (And how cool, I never think that orange and black can work together but you’ve proven me wrong!)
I always wonder about orange and black, too, but that outfit doesn’t look like Halloween at all!
Ha, this totally fooled me! I had to re-read and look at the original pictures. The orange-ified outfits do look pretty great though!!
Is it sad that I think my favorite post on my own blog is by someone else?
Those pictures are AWESOME!!!!!!!!! Kim, you’ll have to teach me the techniques for picture-fun like this! And I do think that Erin would look great in orange. =)
I wear very little pink because I don’t think that it goes very well with my coloring. But since I’m an alum of UIUC, whose colors are orange and blue, I do wear a decent amount of orange on casual days. =D
Even when I lived in C-U and went to grad school there the only reason I owned any orange and blue was because we could wear it to work on game days!
1) I wish I had even half of Kim’s photoshop skill
2) Orange is a great color! Erin, you would look great in orange

Kim is a Photoshop master! I farm all my Photoshop needs out to her
What a FUN idea and color. I love me some orange, and you look great wearing it! I think my favorite is that blazer…or maybe the gingham combination. I think you need to find those items in real life and own them

Kim is so creative! The gingham combo is probably my favorite, too.
