You’d think that a black and white outfit would be one of the easiest ensembles to put together. You’d think black and white can never go wrong. But, I’ll be honest with you, this outfit looked way better in my head than it did when I put it on.
Is there anything inherently wrong with it? Nope. Black and white together is classic and the addition of the pearl necklace just makes it even more so. The zebra print shoes? That adds a little bit of edge without being too over the top. But maybe it’s the cold and gray day (and I swear I see snowflakes flying past my 8th floor window) but I couldn’t bring myself to take an outdoor picture and I’m never thrilled with my indoor ones.
So, in reality, there’s nothing wrong with this outfit. Wear your black and white with pride! Just don’t mind me if I’m in the mood to prefer mine in the way of black yoga pants and a glass of white wine.

Pairing the fancy sequined skirt with a neutral colored cardigan and nude heels helps keep it from being too bling-y or overwhelming.
The fact that I paired two pieces that could be considered slightly casual but added heels and a blazer makes my outfit work appropriate without being traditional.
Ever since I bought this tie-neck top I have been wanting to pair it with these pants.
Today I’m going to share with you one of my favorite ways to this lace dress that I’ve come up with yet.

I wear a lot of black-I’m not really a color person. I LOVE This. I really like that white shirt.
Sadly, this shirt is sold out in white on the Target website. Bummer because a white lace shirt is a nice change up from a plain white one.
I always struggle with black and white looks, I always feel like when I put one together, it’s too basic. (Then I go crazy and add color and it just never works. I think I have a mental block from working for so long at a company that required we ONLY wear black and white, I ended up with a closet of only black/white clothes and I felt so liberated after I quit, I’ve never been able to go back!)
I like how you added the texture and pattern with the zebra shoes, it’s fun and adds personality to the black and white. Oh, I just realized your shirt has a faint polka dot pattern to it as well, so there’s quite a few interesting things going on with this! Bummer about the snowflakes though, it was looking like you were having a fairly pleasant winter so far!
I, too, used to be SO into black and white. I even had my bedroom done up in all black and white for a few years. Now, though, it’s hard for me to pull off without feeling like I should be working in a restaurant or something!
I love the combination of black and white, with or without an accent color or piece of jewelry! Those shoes are fabulous. I’ve got two pairs of leopard-print shoes already and now I want some zebra-print shoes, too. =D
Fun shoes like this always get lots of compliments, too. Great for days when you need a pick-me-up.
Love the simplicity of black and white looks. Great outfit!
