Last night I attended the House of Gemmes Holiday Soiree.  Appetizers, drinks and shopping for jewelry?  Yeah, that sounds right up my alley.  My original goal was just to purchase gifts for people but I fell in love with a few things for myself.  Yes, even though I’m on a shopping ban for myself I knew that these items wouldn’t have been on my wish list that I gave to other people and I should just get them for myself.

I mean, listen: I have little tiny wrists.  Bracelets do not usually fit me.  But I tried on two stretchy bracelets that fit my wrists PERFECTLY!  Seriously.  I couldn’t go home without them.  Especially since I didn’t have anything black and gold to match my black and gold mini bubble necklace and this one fit the bill.

After my purchase I didn’t want to play the waiting game.  I wanted to wear at least one of my new bracelets ASAP.  So, yes, I planned this outfit around a bracelet.  It happens.  Now, if only I had a fun gold watch….

P.S. It’s not actually cold enough to be bundled up like this, but my brain is in “winter mode” and can’t quite fathom leaving the house in mid-December with my lighter trench coat on.

How great that you found some bracelets that fit you perfectly! Yay! Did you find any gifts for others?

You know, I couldn’t imagine how to wear those bubble necklaces but you style them so well!

Yes! I found a gift for my boss. That I really want to keep for myself 🙂

There are so many other style bloggers who have bubble necklaces that it’s easy to find inspiration. I attribute (almost) all of my bubble necklace styling skill to looking at other pretty pictures 🙂

I love that last photo! (I have to say, I always thought Chicago got snow by this time of year, are you having a warmer than normal winter?)
This is the prettiest way to dress up jeans, I love how a tweedy blazer looks with jeans. I really like the mini bubble necklace, more so than the larger versions, it’s not as “in your face” and looks a little more grown up and stylized. (Just a little pop of color and it really works with the sophisticated feel of the jacket.)

I love that little black textured jacket! It is so chic with the jeans and the necklace, and of course, the bracelet.

On a related note – do you have any guidelines on when you should or should not tuck your shirt into your jeans!?!?!?

Hmm, to tuck or not to tuck. I typically prefer not to tuck because I have a crazy short torso and it tends to make me look disproportionate. As a rule of thumb, though, I would leave a shirt untucked if you’re wearing something over it and want to look slightly more casual. Tucked in for a more dressed-up look.
