Red is Just Orange Without the Yellow

Blazer – The Limited (similar) | Blouse – Express (similar) | Pants – Ann Taylor (on sale!) | Shoes – Karen Scott via Macy’s (similar)

And we’ve reached the cold and gray portion of the year.  It’s usually about this time that I just want to wear sweat pants every day.  But I can’t so these stretchy dress pants from Ann Taylor will just have to do.  These pants seem to show up on Inspiration Monday quite a bit.  I think it’s because so many of the inspiration photos from Two Birds include skinny or boyfriend jeans and these pants are my workday answer to that trend.

 Jessica Biel aka Jessica Timberlake

I really like Jessica’s outfit here.  But, alas, I don’t own a funky blazer or a fun orange blouse.  In fact, I don’t own anything orange.  I’m much more partial to red.  So partial that I’m wearing it in two layers today.

Comfy pants that also look good? I may have hit the lottery here.

Thanks! I forgot to take a picture of the back but it actually has “tails” like a tuxedo coat with tails. Crazy, huh?

Red is my favorite color! I think it is almost universally flattering on all women. I wear red in double-layers all the time. =D

On a completely unrelated note, can you do a post sometime on patterned tights, please? I just got these last week and would love suggestions on how best to wear them!

I like this idea. Patterned tights seem so fun. I think we need a guide of how to make them office appropriate… and not skankalicious.

Those tights are adorable! I can certainly tackle patterned tights.

NOTHING IN ORANGE?! Erin, we must fix this. Wait. Do you even like orange?!

Next time you post a pic of Mrs. Timberlake, I request a picture of Justin to accompany it. Hee hee hee.

I don’t know if I even look good in orange!! And unless you count my Milwaukee Marathon shirt (and my March Madness Half Marathon shirt that I’ve never worn) then I don’t own anything orange.

I like red on you… not sure orange would look as good with your skintone. Those pants are great! I hear ya on wanting to wear sweats all day every day during this weather :/ Blah. It’s about now that I start considering how much a move to Cali would cost.

I LOVE this outfit. I love the shoes with it. so much.

I own 1 orange shirt and I’ve never worn it…

      Until today…

Seriously, though, orange and black can look too Halloween-y but somehow with the blazer it doesn’t do that.

I so want that blazer of Jessica’s, I love strong shouldered blazer but it’s really hard to find affordable options. Blah, anyways I really like this inspiration image, it’s an easy one to replicate even with work appropriate items, I really like how the leopard printed shoes continue the line of the pants.

The blazer is adorable. But what I really want are her jeans…
