Dress – The Limited | Blazer – The Limited | Belt – The Limited | Shoes – Tahari via TJ Maxx | Necklace – Gift

If you like my Facebook page you saw earlier today that I posted a picture of this necklace and said you’d never guess where I got this necklace.  So, here’s the story.

On Monday I went down to my apartment building’s dry cleaner and package room to pick up a package and the woman who works there oohed and ahhed over my necklace.  Then she starts telling me a story about  how another woman in the building went to Italy for two weeks and then brought her a necklace as a thank you for holding her mail and packages for the entire time.

“But,” she said, “at my age I don’t wear big necklaces like yours. “

And then she pulled out this necklace from under her counter and handed it to me.  “You should have this!”

Really?  Are you sure?

Yep.  So here’s my new acquisition.  The clasp on it is actually broken but I rigged it using my ankle bracelet trick and voila!  One beautiful necklace that goes with my black and green dress that  I bought to wear specifically while working at my work’s annual holiday concert.  Which is why posts this week have been a little crazy.  Working a choir concert is fun but time consuming!

That’s so awesome how you got that gorgeous necklace! You look so professional and chic. What is the ankle bracelet trick!?!?!?

If you have a necklace that is too short you can take an ankle bracelet and use it to extend it. In this case, though, since the clasp was broken I threaded the ankle bracelet through the original clasp and when I clasped the ankle bracelet it not only gave the necklace a bit more length but it worked as a way to keep the necklace clasped. Here’s a picture of one way I use it: http://on.fb.me/TMaRIx

I know, right?? I immediately knew I was going to wear it with this dress when she handed it to me. I went down to show her on Friday but she was nowhere to be found. I hope I get another chance to have her see me in it.

Something about forest green and black makes it look both festive and polished.

Wow what a sweet lady! (And it’s such a beautiful necklace as well, I like the wavey metal posts in-between the stones.) This is a really pretty outfit, it has a fun festive looks and I love how the blouse has sheer sleeves and it looks stunning paired with the simple pencil skirt. (Green is a gorgeous color on you!)
