Copycats Friday is one of my favorite days of the whole month! It’s when I try to branch out of my usual style and try something different. This month I’m channeling the ever-stylish and sometimes a little out-there Blair from Atlantic-Pacific.
Her double polka dot look has been on my mind ever since I found myself in possession of both a polka dot sweater and a polka dot blouse. I love the juxtaposition of the two different background colors and polka dot sizes in the original look. I also love her shoes but, sadly, I didn’t have any strappy closed toe heels to wear today.
I even searched my neighborhood for some stairs so I could copy her pose. This is the best I could do.
All told, I LOVE the way this outfit turned out even if it’s a bit more casual than I would wear to the office. Still, for a Friday when I have no meetings and the boss is out? I’ll break out the double polka dots.
Would you wear either of our outfits?

Nothing is classier to me than tweed and a pencil skirt.
A reader recently contacted me and asked for help with a pair of ankle boots she just bought.
Right now I’m pretty happy with my closet. But even so there are days when I stand there and stare at all the hangers and think, “I wish I had….”
I’ve had all of these clothing pieces in my closet for a long time. I keep wavering on whether or not to keep the cardigan and then it keeps staying.
Pairing the fancy sequined skirt with a neutral colored cardigan and nude heels helps keep it from being too bling-y or overwhelming.

ohhhh…love this on you. Very chic. I especially that you chose to coordinate the polka dot shirts – the white, grey, and black looks great!
The original look is awesome but I think the more muted color palate is probably more accessible to people. Either way, it’s a fun way to think outside of the box!
I like the look but don’t think I could pull it off.
I am in love with those shoes though.. I don’t really ever wear heels like that but the link you posted is $23.60 with free shipping! How can I say no to that? I used to have gray flats that I loved but I wore them so much I killed them and haven’t found a replacement yet.
These shoes are also really comfy, too! One of my favorite pairs of heels and they always gets lots of compliments.
Good thing they are comfy too… I couldn’t resist ordering a pair.
Stopping by from Frills for Thrills – I love your take on the double dotted outfit! I’ll have to add a polka dotted sweater to my wish list.
Thanks for coming by! The polka dotted sweater seems to be a season staple this year.
I love polka dots- very cute!
Thanks! Polka dots are such a great pattern.
Very artsy! I would never have thought to mix polka-dots, very creative! I’m a little scared to wear polka dots myself but the outfit looks great on you!
What makes you scared of polka dots?
Honestly? Because when I was growing up, someone made a comment on how the polka dots reminded them of having measles! So I’ve shied away from polka dots ever since! Irrational, I know. But funny how these things stay with you over the years…
That is funny! I think as long as you’re not wearing red or pink polka dots you’re probably okay
I love the double polkadot look! I feel like I don’t have anything polkadotted, but I know I have one or two things. Just not a blouse and a sweater, haha. But if I did, I’d totally wear something like this. I do think I like your version better… the grey and white with the black and white. More my style, I think, that the other colors.
I totally fell in love with polka dots over the past year. I have quite a few things at this point but keep wanting to add more. Must.stop.buying.polka.dots!
Will there need to be an intervention on Sunday? LOL
Just don’t let me go near the scarves.
LOL something tells me I shouldn’t go near scarves either… but… I really want a plaid one. And a polka dot one. GRRR! It’s cash only Sunday, right? That’s probably a good thing… though I’ll have to remember to actually get cash haha.
Nice, chic look — classy with a bit of fun. Love that you echoed the background, too!
I didn’t even realize until I was putting the post together that she was also standing on stairs in front of a grated door!
I agree with everyone, I really like the muted color tones and the coordinating polka dots, it’s very wearable! (And I love how those pretty gray shoes work with the sweater, that little details really seems to pull everything together.) The wrap bracelets are the perfect accessories, you are really getting your money’s worth out of those!
I love the bright funky colors in the original look but I agree that the more neutral tones are more accessible to everyone.
So fun to layer the two similar patterns on one another! Do you think you could do that with any other type of pattern?
I think as long as the patterns are two different sizes then, yes, you could. Sometimes two small patterns layered together can look too haphazard.
Oooh I love the double polka dots! I’ve been mixing stripes lately. I would try dots but I don’t think I own much that is polka dotted.
See, I own lots of polka dots but most of my stripes don’t work for layering like this. I do love a good stripe, though!
