You know how sometimes you look in the mirror and you think, “Oh yeah, this looks gooood!”  And then you take a picture of yourself and start to think, “Hmm, maybe not.”  Or does that just happen to me?

In the interest of full disclosure, I have worn this outfit before and not photographed it.  Now that I’ve photographed it, though, I’m not so sure it should be worn!

Let’s deconstruct.  Of course, it could just be the angle of the camera or the way I’m standing but to my eye this outfit does nothing to hide my super-short torso or my hips.  But you know what?  I have a super-short torso and hips.  So if I want to wear my red sweater with my light gray (and slightly sparkly although the camera didn’t really catch that) pants I will.  So there.

Although maybe next time I’ll work on my posture and tug down the sweater a bit.

I hate that. That happened to me on Thanksgiving I thought I was looking cute and then the pictures said otherwise.

For the record- I like Ya outfit.

That happens to me a lot. Although not just when I photograph it, but I’ll be in a rush to get dressed in the morning, and once I walk out the front door, I’ll think “I hate this outfit already” but if I go back inside to change, I’ll miss my train. And you can’t do that with the Metra before 6am.

This happens to me probably a good sixty percent of the time. I actually really like the simple look this outfit has, it’s very effortless, polished look. (And um, those pants make your legs look insanely long. I can’t believe you’re only a few inches taller than me, I could have sworn you were 5’10 or something, you have the longest legs!)

I think the proportions are pretty good on this, you have the rule of thirds going on and everything looks pretty balanced. (So there, I’m no help at all.)

You are definitely NOT the only person who thinks that – SO MANY TIMES I’ve liked an outfit only to see it photographed and severely dislike it!

    However.

When I saw this picture and hadn’t yet read what you wrote, my instinct was “that looks nice!” so take that for what it’s worth. 🙂

I think it looks good 🙂 And festive! I like that the outfit is very simple – maybe when you saw the pics it looked too simple for you? 🙂

I always look better in the bathroom mirror at home with more yellow lighting than the mirrors at work! 🙂
