Burgundy and Navy: Fall for a Touch of Lace

Navy lace cropped pants may not scream Chicago in the fall to you but I purchased them in October and they’ve been sitting with the tags on just waiting for me to decide when or whether to wear them. We’re having a bit of a warm streak this week so I decided that the pants had been sitting around long enough. I actually have a few ideas of what else to wear them with (including a new top making an appearance on Thursday) so I suppose they can find a home in my closet.
And, of course, you have to throw some burgundy into the mix right now. It’s so very in for fall! I’ve had this cardigan for a few years and usually wear it with dresses or jeans and riding boots. However, pairing it with the cropped pants and heels definitely makes the pants seem more cool-weather appropriate as well as balancing out the length of the pants by making me look taller. Or, at least, that’s what I’ll keep telling my 5’4” self.
So, what do you think? Would you wear lace pants? What would you wear them with?

For those of you looking for casual outfit inspiration, this one’s for you!
Nothing is classier to me than tweed and a pencil skirt.
A reader recently contacted me and asked for help with a pair of ankle boots she just bought.
Right now I’m pretty happy with my closet. But even so there are days when I stand there and stare at all the hangers and think, “I wish I had….”
I’ve had all of these clothing pieces in my closet for a long time. I keep wavering on whether or not to keep the cardigan and then it keeps staying.

i never thought about lace pants until now. and now that i see them on you, i need a pair!! (that’s not crazy at all, right?)
I originally wanted a lace skirt but thought pants might be more versatile. We’ll see!
Those pants would be shorts on my beastly body.
I love them on you- you look super fab in this. Wear it everyday.
They are pretty short for cropped pants. I was a bit disappointed since the image on the website shows them hitting at the ankle. I mean, I have long legs but even still!
I love the lace cropped pants. What a great way to add texture and so perfect with the burgundy!
The texture really does add a little extra something to the pants, doesn’t it?
L.O.V.E those pants! I am totally with you on the lace skirt v/s pants thought. Do feature these pants more often
I really hope I can wear them more often even as it gets cold out. Still trying to figure out when it’s too cold to wear cropped pants in Chicago!
Oh gosh. I would not wear lace pants. I would be worried about snagging them on something all day long!
These seem to be pretty sturdy. To be honest, though, that’s not something I ever thought about!
You are probably better than me at taking nice care of your things too
I absolutely LOVE those lace pants. They are gorgeous and unique yet still elegant and classy. I know what I’ll be looking for on Black Friday!!!!!!
I bet Ann Taylor will have some killer Black Friday sales!
I had not idea that you were 5’4, I always had you pegged at 5’10 or something. (You look so tall! I’m going to have to figure out how you do that!)
These pants, oh wow, I am just drooling over them. they are so bold but they look so wearable, like they would be really easy to pair other items with them. (And that pattern, oh, they are just so pretty.) I cannot wait to see all of the way that you are going to wear them.
I’m probably closer to 5’3″ and some change but I round it up
I have really long legs, though, so I think that helps. And making sure my tops elongate my torso seems to make a difference. Or maybe it’s just the camera angel
Still loving those pants. Looked on line after you tweeted me about the sale, but my size was sold out
Bummer!
