Recently I’ve come to the conclusion that one of my favorite things to do is take an inspiration photo where the person is wearing jeans and figure out how to make it appropriate for an office where jeans aren’t considered every day work wear. In the case of today’s Inspiration Monday photo I changed things up by swapping the jeans for dress pants, adding a plain cardigan instead of a fringed Bohemian style one, and ditching the boots for heels.
I kept the stripes and the neutral accessories color scheme, though. And I added my new mini bubble necklace in black as a sort of fringe.
Speaking of this necklace, Maggie introduced me to Groopdealz which is a great website that sells all sorts of jewelry, home accessories, and crafty goodness for really reasonable prices. In fact, I’m planning on doing a giveaway with Frills for Thrills next week with an item I purchased from there! I’ve already drooled over quite a few of the offerings but am trying to behave myself this close to the holidays. Perhaps I should unsubscribe from their emails, huh?
But, you know, if anyone is looking for a gift for me, Groopdealz might have one or two things. Specifically in the jewelry and scarves sections. Not so much in the inspiration quotes or baby clothes.
P.S. Emily recently asked if leopard heels are office appropriate. As you can see, I definitely think so. Just wear them with black pants if you want to keep them toned down at first.
P.P.S. Don’t forget these are the last few days to boost Loop Looks readership and win a $50 Visa gift card! For your reference, here are the stats:
Days with more than 200 page views: 3 (we just need two more days!)
Number of Facebook fans: 66 (just 34 more!)
3 things I love about your post today: 1. The title! Tee hee. And now I am mentally singing songs from Oklahoma. 2. Converting casual wear to work-appropriate wear — so useful! 3. Using a bubble necklace to echo the fringe — genius!
Woo hoo! Someone caught my Oklahoma! reference.
Stripes are always office appropriate 🙂 very classic outfit.
You’re right! Can’t go wrong with some stripe action. Unless you’re in jail. Then those stripes meant you went very wrong somewhere else 🙂
I Really like those pants. I never thing to go to Ann Taylor because it’s so expensive…
I only shop there when they’re having a 40% off sale. Which is how I purchased these pants. They’re 40% off again right now, FYI. In both tall and regular inseam. When I bought these I just ordered a bunch of different sizes online to get the free shipping and then returned the ones that didn’t fit.
leopard in small doses is definitely appropriate for work! i love that you make these all work-wearable instead of not participating at all!!
I’m loving figuring out how to take the casual look and make it work for me. I always look forward to seeing what the Inspiration Monday photo is for the next week.
Thank you for ensuring that I will have the only two lines of “Surrey with the Fringe On Top” that I know stuck in my head for the rest of the day.
Yesterday I was looking through a J. Crew catalog that found its way into my apartment, saw a bubble necklace in it and thought, “That looks like something Erin would wear!” The necklace you’re wearing here isn’t the exact same, but I feel like I was right in my thinking anyway haha.
J. Crew introduced the bubble necklace and then tons of places have copied it. To be honest, I’m still not sure what makes theirs worth 10 times more than some of the other ones I’ve seen!
Erin! hi! that was great to hear what you wrote to me. thank you, for being understanding and encouraging for my arm party instead of the full length. that was so cool.
I LOVE YOUR LEOPARD PRINT SHOES! i want some of those so badlybadlybadly!!!!
You’re welcome! I really think it’s great that you participate in your own way. Helps me think outside of the box, too.
Great look. Love the idea of challenging yourself to formalize a casual outfit 🙂
PS: I feel stupid, but I can’t figure out how to upload a pic. I thought WordPress was linked with Gravatar? It’s actually been bugging me for weeks lol
nm…got it…
Maybe you have to be logged in to Gravatar or something? Or maybe it’s something in my settings. I’ll look into it.
I think it’s something you’d be good at as well!
…or not…
I like this look a lot, especially the sassy leopard print heels! These are things I would never think of on my own….
Leopard goes with everything in my eye. I consider it a neutral for sure.
Oooh, looks fabulous! I would never have thought to mix a striped shirt with the leopard-print heels, but it really does work. And thanks so much for taking my question about the animal-print shoes!!!!!
Leopard also goes with polka dots. At least, I think so!
I always like your takes on these inspiration looks and how you do office versions of them. This looks lovely with the leopard heels as a little pop of color and pattern, it’s fun with the striped shirt! (The necklace is a fun accessory as well, it adds some fun visual interest and works so well with the striped shirt.)
Thankfully this necklace came in the mail at just the right time!
I’m just over here singing Oklahoma songs now. I really should download all the music from that.
“Surrey with the Fringe on Top” is probably the only Oklahoma song I know. Even though I’m pretty sure I’ve seen the musical at least once!
I love pairing stripes and leopard print! Great take on the inspiration photo!

Thanks! Stripes and leopard are one of my favorite combinations so any time I can make it work I’m going to be drawn to it.
I am excited you got a mini bubble necklace! Since who knows what is up with the other one.
I know, right? And I hope someone gets me the teal one for Christmas!
