Ever notice how guys have it so easy on casual Friday at the office? Jeans and a nice button up shirt and they’re good to go! I decided to borrow from the boys and do the same. Jeans and a button up shirt. Add some fun accessories to glam it up a bit and I’m ready to take on my casual Friday nemesis in style.
This top has been in my closet for years and years. Every now and then I think about getting rid of it but then I decide not to. Wearing it tucked into jeans is new for me but I think I like it!
Thanks again to Molly for playing photographer for me this week! Not only did I get to hang out with her but she also showed me a new part of Chicago that I’d never been to. If you live in Chicago and haven’t wandered down Prairie Avenue or visited the oldest house in Chicago I suggest you do.
I really like the color of your shirt. It’s very flattering with your dark hair.
Thanks! Do you think that people with dark hair can wear more or less different colors than people with lighter hair?
Hmm, I think it depends. I’ve had my hair every shade from very blonde to almost black. It seems like black and dark navy shirts looked better with lighter hair since it ‘pops’ unlike dark hair which blends in with the shirt. On the opposite end, I thought white/lighter colors looked better with dark hair because then the hair is more dramatic against the shirt. My observations were mostly with hair worn down, if the hair is worn up then I don’t think the shirt color makes as much difference. Also I didn’t wear yellow with blonde hair because I thought it picked up yellowish undertones in my hair.
You make a great point about dark hair and dark colors. Especially in pictures!
You look lovely Erin! I am a fan of the tucked-in shirt on others but somehow m not convinced that it looks good on me w/o a topper or a cardi..
on a side note, I spent 15 mins today morning trying to find “something” to wear for casual friday.. shud hav seen ur post earlier 😛
oooh and congrats on the new website!
Casual Friday is a tough one. And wearing tucked in shirts isn’t always easy, either. I think the key is making sure the rise on your pants isn’t too high otherwise it makes you look disproportionate.
LOVE Prairie Ave. I haven’t explored down there nearly as much as I’d like to. Something to put on my to-do list for a nice weekend!
Taking a tour of the area is definitely going on my Chicago bucket list!
I’m lucky enough (sometimes LOL) to not have to worry about causal Friday, since our office is casual all the time, but I love this look. It’s causal but still professional, and looks great on you! I love that necklace under the collar of the shirt too… big fan of doing that and something I’ve been trying to do myself lately.
I pinned several looks on Pinterest with the necklace under the collar of the shirt. I didn’t know how I felt about it until I saw other pictures of people doing it. Now I’m pretty sure I like it with the right necklace.
Love dark denim for casual Fridays. I think guys have it simpler all around – even non-casual wear seems easier for guys.
Dark denim definitely classes up the joint!
I think guys have it easier dressing in general, along as their clothes are fitted, they look great. 😛
This color looks amazing on you, it really pops and looks lovely. (Love the shirt tucked in, it does feel more polished and looks very sleek and tailored.)
Weird, isn’t it, how sometimes tucking in a shirt makes it go from sloppy to tailored even when it’s the same piece of clothing.
I like that top! I think it’s good you held on to it.
I love that necklace. I am so happy I copied you and got one. I have worn it a lot already! (And gotten lots of compliments!)
It’s so versatile, isn’t it? Even Jason commented on it!
