I pinned this look a few weeks ago not really thinking I’d ever be able to recreate it.  I mean, I had the burgundy pants but the green blazer?  Right.

But, wait!  I have a green cardigan!  And, in fact, I had to search all over my apartment to find it because it was still in the dry cleaning bag from the end of last winter.

Putting these colors together is not something I would have thought of on my own and I’m still not positive the purple-ish colored top is the exact look I’m going for.  The plus is, I have a lot of things in my closet in this color family so I can play around with it a bit and see if one works better than the other.

What do you think?  Crazy colors or just right?

Also, my guest photographer, Molly, was making me laugh by trying to take  pictures without the cop cars in the background.  We finally decided they add an urban aspect to the photos.

Serious props to you, you’ve manage to wear purple and green(well,it’s more burgundy that purple) and have managed not to look like the Joker! This is on of those color combinations that always scares me, it seems so crazy. I think you’ve made it work by using these burgundy pants, they seems to blend with the green pretty well. Way to go for taking a stylish risk!

When I was younger purple and green (specifically lime green) was my favorite color combo…right up until 8th grade where someone said, “Purple and green? Those are Barney colors!”

That was the end of (outspoken) appreciation for purple and green. I still think they’re able to look good together, though, despite what my (mean) classmate might have said.

When I was in high school I had this awesome light pink fuzzy sweater. I loved it until a girl started calling me “Miss Piggy” while I was wearing it. Other kids are mean, yo.

I love the color combination! The deep purple and the green are really pretty together, but I feel like the bright purple top is a little too bright, when the rest of the outfit is more muted? Maybe next time you could pair it with a more neutral top, like a brown or black, or something that is a more dark muted color like a navy blue, an olive green, or even a deep orange.

Oooh, navy blue is a great idea! I’ll keep that in mind. The original outfit inspiration pin had a top that was more pink than purple with the green and burgundy so maybe that’s what made that one work a little better.

The first thing I thought looking at the pic was “I like the varying shades of purple together!” You should do a Wed post all on overlaying similar colors. Meh. Too easy?

P.S. Comments seem to be a bit slow to go through… I’ll let you know if I notice it again 😉 (just trying to give feedback on the new url 😉 )

Yeah, I’ve noticed that the new website is slow sometimes. Probably something with my webhost (GoDaddy, FYI). Or maybe the comment plug-in I’m using. So many things to worry about when you’re self-hosted!

I could do a Wednesday post about wearing monochromatic looks!
