Burgundy is Back

Years ago I had a pair of burgundy/oxblood/wine colored pants from The Limited. I wore those things like crazy. But, I almost always wore them with a black top. I got rid of them when that color went out of style and because they no longer fit.
Funny how things come back around, isn’t it? When I realized burgundy was going to be one of the trendy colors this fall I went out and bought a burgundy skirt and then decided I need a new pair of burgundy pants. When I saw these at Target I decided they fit the bill perfectly. And for less than $30? Sold!
This time, though, I’m planning to wear them with more than just black. I have lots of ideas on my Pinterest inspiration board that I’m looking forward to trying.
Are you planning to wear burgundy this fall?

A reader recently contacted me and asked for help with a pair of ankle boots she just bought.
Right now I’m pretty happy with my closet. But even so there are days when I stand there and stare at all the hangers and think, “I wish I had….”
I’ve had all of these clothing pieces in my closet for a long time. I keep wavering on whether or not to keep the cardigan and then it keeps staying.
Pairing the fancy sequined skirt with a neutral colored cardigan and nude heels helps keep it from being too bling-y or overwhelming.
The fact that I paired two pieces that could be considered slightly casual but added heels and a blazer makes my outfit work appropriate without being traditional.

I’m a big fan of burgundy — I’ve almost always had a burgundy shirt or two that I wear a lot in the fall. I’ve definitely never worn burgundy on my pants, though (at least not since I was a little kid, pre-introduction to jeans). I think I’m still scarred from my childhood of weird colored and/or printed leggings haha.
I wore black pants almost exclusively for the past several years. But once I realized how versatile colored pants could be I decided to embrace it!
Love the animal print & burgundy combination. I am a recent follower and a fellow chi-towner. Never left a comment before
but your clothes really make more sense to me- practical yet on the mark polished!
Thanks for the comment! I’m glad that you find my outfits practical and polished. It’s exactly what I’m going for!
OMG, I bought those *same* pants at Target last weekend!
They’re such a deal for the quality, aren’t they? Looking forward to seeing how you style yours!
Burgundy is one of my favorite colors, I’m always drawn to those darker, more muted shades. (Burgundy, olive, rust, it goes on and on….) I can’t believe these pants are from Target, they look really expensive! I love how you paired the leopard cardigan with the burgundy pants.
I was hesitant to even try these pants on since pants tend to fit me strangely. But, amazingly, these fit great and look like they should have cost way more than $28! I’m going to have to remember to try Target pants more often.
Fun! I am excited to see how else you pair them!
I have a few other tops in mind. Like my black and white blouse and maybe some chambray.
