After the last time I wore this outfit I got a lot of good suggestions on how to change it up. So, here’s what I did differently this time.
Before After
Changes:
1. Tie the top so that it hits higher up
2. Implement the Rule of Three by adding the necklace
3. Wear lighter shoes so that the eye is drawn up and not down.
Overall I think this is a much better outfit. And it just goes to show you that with a few tweaks an outfit that is just blah and not flattering can become something else entirely.

For those of you looking for casual outfit inspiration, this one’s for you!
Nothing is classier to me than tweed and a pencil skirt.
A reader recently contacted me and asked for help with a pair of ankle boots she just bought.
Right now I’m pretty happy with my closet. But even so there are days when I stand there and stare at all the hangers and think, “I wish I had….”
I’ve had all of these clothing pieces in my closet for a long time. I keep wavering on whether or not to keep the cardigan and then it keeps staying.

Hi, I found your blog through Inspiration Monday. Love this outfit! You look so polished and put together in the tweaked version.
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you stick around
The lighter shoes really go make you look up! What a good trick
They just sort of fade into the background! Perfect when you want to look taller.
Wow! It’s incredible how much of a difference just changing a couple elements of that outfit made!
Right? That’s what so awesome about breaking out of a rut and trying new things with the same items you already have in your closet.
Oh wow, it’s amazing what changing up a few things can do! (This is a great demonstration of a a outfit break down!) I love these pants with the top tied up like that, it really shows off the long line of the pants and your long legs. I also really like the high heeled nude shoes with the pants, it makes the cropped length of the pants look very sleek.
This rule of three you have works well, the necklace is a perfect finishing touch.
I’m so glad I posted my original outfit “fail” so that I could get feedback and rework it into a better look! This is why having a blog is so much fun!
Love the way you changed up the outfit! I really need to get a pair of nude heels.
I just got mine last month! Now I wear them all the time.
