Inspiration Monday – Are You Yellow?
24 Sep
Blazer – Bergner’s | Sweater – Express | Pants – Express | Necklace – J. Crew via Poshmark | Shoes – Bandolino via Macy’s
It’s another Inspiration Monday from Two Birds Boutique! And what, exactly, was today’s inspiration?

But here’s the thing: I don’t own anything yellow. Not one single thing. The closest I can get is this camel colored blazer. So, I went with it. I suppose it’s a more muted or toned down approach to Olivia’s look.
A blazer and a sweater are a great way to transition your cropped pants from spring to fall, too. It’s pretty chilly in Chicago right now but I was nice and toasty in this outfit.
How would you interpret this look?

A reader recently contacted me and asked for help with a pair of ankle boots she just bought.
Right now I’m pretty happy with my closet. But even so there are days when I stand there and stare at all the hangers and think, “I wish I had….”
I’ve had all of these clothing pieces in my closet for a long time. I keep wavering on whether or not to keep the cardigan and then it keeps staying.
Pairing the fancy sequined skirt with a neutral colored cardigan and nude heels helps keep it from being too bling-y or overwhelming.
The fact that I paired two pieces that could be considered slightly casual but added heels and a blazer makes my outfit work appropriate without being traditional.

Oooh, nice interpretation with the tan details. I also don’t have any yellow in my wardrobe… it looks lovely on others (like Olivia) but it’s just not for me. And as always, love your green pants!
Yeah, I’m not sure about yellow for me, either. So, tan it is!

It’s funny how versatile green pants can be! You should totally get yourself a pair.
I love your take on this look! (Your version actually looks way more wearable than the first one, I have to admit that the thought of pairing a bright yellow pants with a teal/greenish blazer scares me!) This camel jacket looks so classic with the black turtleneck and those pants are killer. I love the color and the structure of them, they look so flattering and stunning on you. (That color looks amazing on you!)
Thanks for all your lovely compliments! I love these green pants. They were a splurge for me but I’ve already worn them so often that I think they were worth it.
Great look. Love the turtleneck with the blazer! Will have to try that combination shortly
Also the green pants give your look a fun pop of colour
I’m pretty sure I would wear those green pants every day if I could. Of course, that would be pretty obvious so I limit myself to once a week.
And a turtleneck with a blazer is going to be key if it gets really cold this winter!
