Blacks and Blues

Yep, the boots came out today. A gray, cloudy, windy day in Chicago? Perfect boot weather. I’m also working from home and then helping out with prep for the large conference I’m attending next week so I can go a little bit more casual than normal, even on a Friday.
This outfit mixes both black and blue which I’m sure many people think is a no-no. But, actually, as long as they aren’t too similar in shade, you can wear them together. It’s when they look like you couldn’t tell that one was a different color that it starts to get questionable. Same with chambray or denim on denim. You don’t want the colors to be too close to one another.
Oh! I’m adding a new series to the blog on Saturdays and it starts tomorrow. I hope you’ll check back! Here’s a sneak peak:
Otherwise, enjoy your weekend!

Right now I’m pretty happy with my closet. But even so there are days when I stand there and stare at all the hangers and think, “I wish I had….”
I’ve had all of these clothing pieces in my closet for a long time. I keep wavering on whether or not to keep the cardigan and then it keeps staying.
Pairing the fancy sequined skirt with a neutral colored cardigan and nude heels helps keep it from being too bling-y or overwhelming.
The fact that I paired two pieces that could be considered slightly casual but added heels and a blazer makes my outfit work appropriate without being traditional.

I’m in love with this look. You find the cutest tops at Old Navy! I’m impressed.
Looking forward to Saturday Shots!
Old Navy’s been stepping up their game in terms of tops lately. This one seems to be sold out but they have some other cute ones online!
The first thing I thought was “BOOTS!” Okay, more like “BOOOOOOOOOOOOTSSSS
”
This weekend is officially boot weather for sure.
Ahhhh, those boots are making me salivate. So practical and so cute!
They’re still available…..http://bit.ly/wn1PiV
Ooooh, I’m excited to see this new weekly feature!
These boots are fantastic, there really just isn’t anything like a great pair of riding boots, they add instant style to any outfit and they are ust so easy. It’s nice not having to worry about getting your shoes or your pants wet, sometimes heels are just too much work. (Yikes, I can’t believe I just said that.)
I really like the chambray on denim look, I think a lighter blue looks really nice with a darker wash jean, like you’ve done here. (Sadly, I did do the denim tuxedo in my teens, I’d go denim jacket, jeans and a denim shirt. I was pretty sure that the only thing that went with a jean jacket was jeans.
Very not cool.)
I love riding boots. Amazingly, I only have two pairs.
