Copycat Friday–Hot Denim

It’s Copycat Friday from Sarah at Frills for Thrills! I’ve had a denim and stripes outfit pinned for awhile. Since today’s temps are back in the 90s and it’s Friday I decided to pull the trigger and recreate it.

Of course, I went with a more office-appropriate pencil skirt and ballet flats instead of heels (although the ones in the photo are adorable!). I also have a white cardigan on standby in case I get too cold in the office air conditioning.
Also, I’ll be honest with you, I have a pair of cropped jeans to change into when I leave work today. I’m meeting my husband for lunch and then we’re off to see Sleepwalk with Me. The perfect way to “end” summer.

Cat prints can be worn to the office when you keep them simple and sophisticated. Here are six options.
This week is Bike to Work Week in Chicago and since I only live 1.5 miles from my office I do occasionally bike there.
The great thing about a denim or jean jacket is that you can find one at literally every price point.
Sometimes you see an outfit on someone and you think, “That works, but I don’t know why.”
Head over to the other Chicago Erin at Color Me Styled and read my guest post on what I’m planning to pack for vacation next week!

Your outfit is so adorable! I love the nautical theme
And I am exactly the same, take a picture of an outfit with all the matching accessories and slowly lose them throughout the day, change my shoes and shove a jumper on! All the best bloggers do

It ended up being REALLY warm outside on Friday, though, so a part of me wished I had kept on the skirt! But the movie theater was freezing so it’s probably good that I put on pants. But I’m glad to know other bloggers also change up their outfits throughout the day
I do like how you changed out the denim circle skirt for a denim pencil skirt, that does make the outfit far more office friendly! (Although I am seriously lusting after that girl’s skirt and those heels.) I like this, it’s very sleek and a bit nautical looking, between the stripes, the knotted scarf and the red shoes, this would also make for a really cute weekend look.
And on another note, this is a fantastic way to wear a denim skirt! (It’s surprising how hard they are to style.)
You’d think a denim skirt would be easy to style, right?? Must be something about how it’s kind of casual but kind of not.
I love love love red with denim! I wore red flats to the office this week and my coworker compared me to Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz (she was being nice). LOL. I guess they get people’s attention
Red with denim is a fun combination. And, yes, red shoes definitely catch people’s eye!
Adorable! I Love your version of the outfit!
Thanks! It was a fun one to copy.
