You Pick Wednesday–Shorts & Tall
22 Aug
Readers, meet my friend Whit:
Me on the left, Whit on the right. Believe it or not, I’m wearing three inch heels.
Whit emailed me recently with a question. Her situation? Regular shorts feel too short for her height but she’s tired of capris. What’s the solution?
Bermudas!
No, not those plaid things you associate with tourists wearing cameras around their necks. These:
Why Bermuda shorts?
They cover more leg than regular shorts. Perfect for people with long legs who feel that regular shorts show too much.
Tapered Bermudas are especially flattering on tall, thin people but can be equally flattering on those of us who are almost petite.

Tapered Bermuda shorts are also a little less likely to fall into the “dowdy” camp that capris can sometimes end up in. As long as you avoid Bermudas that are too wide, too high-waisted, or look too much like the ones you pictured when I originally wrote Bermudas.

For those of you looking for casual outfit inspiration, this one’s for you!
Nothing is classier to me than tweed and a pencil skirt.
A reader recently contacted me and asked for help with a pair of ankle boots she just bought.
Right now I’m pretty happy with my closet. But even so there are days when I stand there and stare at all the hangers and think, “I wish I had….”
I’ve had all of these clothing pieces in my closet for a long time. I keep wavering on whether or not to keep the cardigan and then it keeps staying.

I love berumda shorts, they really are flattering on everyone if you get a nice slim cut, good call on watching out for the high-waisted ones. (High-waisted buremudas? I’m not sure if anyone can make those look good.) A good amount of stores also offer a varity of inseam lengths on their shorts now as well, I’ve seen j.crew go to a seven inch inseam. (Which is awesome, I’m not a huge fan of booty-bareing shorts either, I’ve seen some crazy short inseams on shorts.)
Good point about stores offering different length inseams! And, yeah, I’ve never been able to pull off super short-shorts nor do I think I would ever want to.
