That Polka Dot Dress
13 Aug
Dress – Ann Taylor | Top – Old Navy | Necklace – The Limited | Shoes – Nine West
Looking at these photos I get the feeling I would be more at home somewhere like Martha’s Vineyard instead of in a high rise office building in downtown Chicago. But since it’s cool, gray and rainy in Chicago today I’ll just imagine I’m somewhere on vacation instead.
This is the second time I’ve worn this dress on the blog. The first time I actually mentioned this particular outfit but this is the first chance I’ve had to wear it. Also, another outfit where I’ve turned a dress into a skirt? I’m liking this versatility! It’s a great way to take a summer dress and transition it into fall.

Pairing the fancy sequined skirt with a neutral colored cardigan and nude heels helps keep it from being too bling-y or overwhelming.
The fact that I paired two pieces that could be considered slightly casual but added heels and a blazer makes my outfit work appropriate without being traditional.
Ever since I bought this tie-neck top I have been wanting to pair it with these pants.
Today I’m going to share with you one of my favorite ways to this lace dress that I’ve come up with yet.

Gorgeous dress!
Thanks! I think I originally got the idea of wearing a dress as a skirt from you. Be proud!
Loving the navy blue! And I’m jealous of your rainy day! Although, we get plenty of those here in Portland.
A Portlander is jealous of our rain?! What is the world coming to?
L-OVE! So, so cute.
Thanks!
I love this entire look!! I had never thought to make a dress into a skirt before I began blogging – now I’ve tried it myself a time or two. I agree – versatility is nice!!!
Thanks! I agree that without blogging and reading other style blogs I wouldn’t have thought to wear dresses as skirts. Yay for blogs!
I really like this polka dot pattern, it looks a little geometric with the dots close together like that. It’s always nice to get a little extra use out of a dress, I love sweaters over my dresses in the winter.
That’s the same thing one of my friends said about this dress being almost geometric! Love that it looks so fun to other people, too.
