Beach Vacation Packing List
16 Jul

This week I’m on vacation with my family in Michigan. Yes, the beaches in Michigan look exactly like the one above. Except hopefully the private beach that comes with the house we’re renting has fewer people on it.
We’re driving to the beach house which is both good and bad. Good because I don’t have to worry about cramming everything into a small suitcase. Bad because I don’t have to worry about only being able to use a small suitcase. As someone who once got made fun of for bringing an entire suitcase full of shoes on a cruise, having free reign of space in the car leads to taking a lot of “just in case” items.
So, a la Whitney at Along the Lines of Style I decided to show you what I’ve packed for our week long trip. It’s supposed to be in the upper 80s and lower 90s during the day so I’m sticking with shorts and tanks.
Three pairs of shorts: white, polka dot & black
Six tops – White tank, floral tank, ruffled tank, printed t-shirt, pink sleeveless blouse, striped tank
Pajamas on the left that will double as lounge clothes and one longer sleeved top for the cooler evenings.
Two sets of workout clothes. We should have access to a washer and dryer. So if I get a bee in my bonnet and want to work out a whole bunch I can always wash and re-wear.
Three swimsuits and one cover-up. This is a beach vacation after all. And there’s really nothing worse than having to put on a still-damp swimsuit, is there?
Shoes! Clockwise from top left: black sandals, bike shoes, silver gladiator sandals, silver boat shoes, flip flops, running shoes
Accessories. One belt, several necklaces and some earrings (not pictured). Again, since this is a pretty casual vacation I’m not stressing out about bringing ton of jewelry.
This is what I plan to wear during our drive tomorrow. Khaki shorts, striped top, red necklace, and a white cardigan that will be great for various temperature changes all week. Plus the black sandals pictured above.
Finally, here’s the ever-growing list of things I don’t want to forget. Not pictured or on the list? Socks, bras and underwear. Didn’t think you needed to see pics of those things.
So, what do you think? Did I overpack? Leave something important out?
Also, I have some fun posts lined up for you this week while I’m out. Here’s what you can look forward to:
Tuesday – My May & June Shopping Summary. Finally!
Wednesday – I’m being featured somewhere else. Stay tuned!
Thursday – A fun guest post about summer accessories!
Friday – Flashback Friday!

For those of you looking for casual outfit inspiration, this one’s for you!
Nothing is classier to me than tweed and a pencil skirt.
A reader recently contacted me and asked for help with a pair of ankle boots she just bought.
Right now I’m pretty happy with my closet. But even so there are days when I stand there and stare at all the hangers and think, “I wish I had….”
I’ve had all of these clothing pieces in my closet for a long time. I keep wavering on whether or not to keep the cardigan and then it keeps staying.

Looks like you thought of everything! Have fun on your trip!!!
I make packing lists, too!
I hear you…putting on wet bathings suits is yucky!! I think you got everything covered!
[oomph.]
I don’t think you overpacked! I do the same thing when I go to the river – pack a ton of options. Even when I went to NYC this weekend I had a few extra tops. But my suitcase was not as full on the way there (it sure was on the way back).
