The Longest Short Day

Another hot day so another day of trying to stay cool while looking professional. Now, shorts are probably not the most professional thing out there and normally I would save these for a Friday, but since my boss was out of the office today I figured hey, why not?
Although, since they are the same length as a pencil skirt, there really isn’t that much difference. Pair them with some heels instead of flats and you’ve got one comfy but classy outfit.
P.S. Check out the post by my latest closet consultation! We took her from looking like a Southwest flight attendant to using items she already owned to punch up her wardrobe!

Pairing the fancy sequined skirt with a neutral colored cardigan and nude heels helps keep it from being too bling-y or overwhelming.
The fact that I paired two pieces that could be considered slightly casual but added heels and a blazer makes my outfit work appropriate without being traditional.
Ever since I bought this tie-neck top I have been wanting to pair it with these pants.
Today I’m going to share with you one of my favorite ways to this lace dress that I’ve come up with yet.

The hubby and I were *just* talking about shorts vs. skirts — how they can seem so different even in the same fabric/print. (Example: Floral skirt? Cute! Floral capris? Hmmm….) I love the look of tailored shorts for summer, especially in longer lengths. Your accessories really elevate the look, as do the pinstripes on the shorts! I think these shorts would look really cute with a skinny belt, as well.
That is a really good point about patterned bottoms. I don’t know what it is either about why some prints look fine on skirts but not in pants or shorts!
I love the tailored shorts look! It can look professional and be comfortable in the summer.
Do you think you would ever wear shorts like this to the office?
