Today I have two different interpretations for you!
Here’s the look we started with:

For my first interpretation I went with the maxi skirt, printed shirt, wedge sandals and denim topper idea.
Before I started this blog and before I started following other fashion blogs I never would have thought to wear a dress as a skirt. But that’s what I did here and it was a lot of fun! Sadly, it’s a little too casual for what I had going on at work on Wednesday.
Hence, the other interpretation!
How in the world is this outfit related to the inspiration photo?
Light colored bottoms, pastel family top, neutral shoes and the same denim topper. See? Being inspired by an outfit doesn’t mean you have to recreate it exactly. Look at all the aspects of the items and see what you have that is similar in one way. Maybe the color, maybe the cut, solid versus patterned. All are ideas you can use as a starting point.
How would you interpret any of these outfits with items in your own closet?

Pairing the fancy sequined skirt with a neutral colored cardigan and nude heels helps keep it from being too bling-y or overwhelming.
The fact that I paired two pieces that could be considered slightly casual but added heels and a blazer makes my outfit work appropriate without being traditional.
Ever since I bought this tie-neck top I have been wanting to pair it with these pants.
Today I’m going to share with you one of my favorite ways to this lace dress that I’ve come up with yet.

I just looked at all of your interpretations this week, and they are all so fun! This is such a cool idea, and I love that you aren’t doing a literal interpretation! Hope you’re having a great week!

Thanks! I really love these OTI challenges.
I’ve really appreciated how different people have come up with completely different ideas on how to swing a style…really liked your second look.
It is fun seeing all the other interpretations, isn’t it?
I love that you did a dressy interpretation too! Both of them look great!!
Thanks! Finding a way to “dress up” a casual outfit is a challenge but I enjoyed it.
I love that shirt over the dress! What a clever idea!
I know, right? And I just got idea of how to wear that dress today! I’ll be rocking that outfit soon, I hope.
