And the polka dot dress
makes another appearance! This time I went the more traditional route and wore it with a black blazer. I think with the strappy sandals and bare legs it easily transitions from winter dress to spring even if it is black.
Plus, it IS sleeveless. And what’s more spring/summer than that?
I have an unusual work week this week. Some days I can be pretty casual (today) and others I have to be pretty dressed up. I took advantage of my ability to be more casual today and tried out a combo I’ve been wanting to wear for awhile: red and pink.
My husband told me this morning that I was very “bright”. Perfect for a sunny, warm day don’t you think?
With our schizophrenic spring weather I check the weather app on my iPhone incessantly when planning what to wear. Today, though, I think I actually nailed it.
Originally I was going to wear a black cardigan with this outfit but changed my mind at the last minute and tossed on the fuchsia one. It’s pretty similar to what I had on last Friday
but just enough different, which I think just shows you how versatile certain patterns and colors can be in your wardrobe.
Originally I tried this outfit on with my white blazer but it just wasn’t working for me. Then I saw an outfit on the Banana Republic website where they paired purple with this oatmeal color and I thought “Ah ha!”
See, you don’t have to purchase every item on the store model to recreate a look.
Also, this dress comes with a same-colored skinny fabric belt that I might use if I was just wearing this dress to the beach or around the small Michigan town we’ll be in this summer for vacation. But to work? Put on the fancy belt!
Today was a suit day. This is what I consider to be my warm weather suit. It’s got a fun, flirty skirt and since it’s brown it can be paired with lots of different colors without being too harsh. For some reason, though, I almost always pair it with pink. I think one of my new goals will be to pair this suit with something other than pink. Suggestions?
A few weeks ago I was invited to attend the Dots Spring & Summer Style Party at their Hillside, Illinois store. The purpose of the party was to introduce us to the remodeled Dots store and their new clothing options. Of course, they plied us with champagne and a $50 gift card to spend on whatever we wanted in the store. Since everything in the store is under $40 that gift card goes a long way!
There was also an outfit challenge. Put together an outfit from Dots clothing and the winner will be featured on the Dots website. The winner hasn’t been announced yet but I thought I’d share some of the outfits I put together with you. Can you guess which one I submitted to the contest?
I’m in the center in a polka dot skirt, polka dot halter top, cropped green blazer, and polka dot wedges
Same skirt and shoes, different tank top and shrug
Purple dress, peacock feather belt, same shoes
Pink blazer, tank top, lace skirt, polka dot wedges
Same blazer and skirt but with layered lace and solid camis
I also made a few outfits with a pair of white jeans but unfortunately those photos of me are totally awkward.
I went home with the white jeans, pink blazer, striped tank, purple dress, and peacock belt. I’m still not sure how I feel about the dress and the jeans. Shopping and champagne are a dangerous combination for me!
So, which outfit did I submit to the contest? This one:
Which means I’m thinking about going back for that skirt….
