Top, Scarf & Tights – The Limited
Skirt – Banana Republic
Shoes – Tahari via TJ Maxx
Monday. Some Mondays are easier than others. Today is not one of those easy ones. Sure, the sun is shining but it’s still cold outside! Where is my warm spring weather???
I originally had on gray pants with this top and scarf but I just wasn’t feeling it. So out came the skirt and tights at the last minute. It occurred to me as I walked out the door that a belt would take this outfit up one more level but it was too late at that point.
Definitely Monday.
On the bright side, I’m doing a fun challenge this weekend. I’ll be posting about that later this week and asking for some reader participation so stay tuned!

Nothing is classier to me than tweed and a pencil skirt.
A reader recently contacted me and asked for help with a pair of ankle boots she just bought.
Right now I’m pretty happy with my closet. But even so there are days when I stand there and stare at all the hangers and think, “I wish I had….”
I’ve had all of these clothing pieces in my closet for a long time. I keep wavering on whether or not to keep the cardigan and then it keeps staying.
Pairing the fancy sequined skirt with a neutral colored cardigan and nude heels helps keep it from being too bling-y or overwhelming.

Love the scarf! I think I’m very scarf-challenged. Anytime i’ve put one on i think it looks ridiculous on me. Maybe I don’t know how to properly put one on?
Love the tights too! I agree, i think a belt would look super with this outfit. Still looks great though!
Have you seen the Youtube video on 25 ways to wear a scarf? Watch it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LYAEz777AU
Oh thank you so much! That’s a very helpful video!
I think you are good sans belt!
I wore a sweater with scarf today too. Struggling with dressing nice at home!
I am excited to hear what your challenge is!
I think you’re doing great with putting on “real” clothes when you’re working from home.
Hi! I just wanted to say thank you! I stumbled upon your blog last week. I knew I’d be going shopping on the weekend (I only go shopping maybe 5-6 times a year) and I needed a plan otherwise I’d spend hours indecisively wandering, so I scanned through all your old posts and noted the combos I liked, items that stood out and things that might work for me. I made a list of things that I could add to my wardrobe that would help me maximize pieces I already have — your posts really helped me see certain combinations and ways to wear pieces I never would have thought of because I’m a totally hopeless stylist and shopper.
Thanks to you, I came home with about 6 perfect pieces (bright skinny short pants for spring, a mint cardigan, a polka dot sweater, a spring scarf, and a nautical striped top) and I felt so good about all my purchases. A first for me! I almost always regret what I buy and return things the next day.
Anyway, just wanted to say thanks and keep up the great posts! You a great natural sense of style — something that totally eludes me. I also appreciate that the stuff you buy doesn’t seem to cost a fortune but looks professional – thanks for posting source and price of everything. Very helpful!
