Another casual Friday look! The one day a week I can wear jeans to the office.
In fact, before I started this blog I spent a lot of time looking at other fashion blogs to see if I could help fill a niche. What I found is that a lot of fashion bloggers were either too “high brow” (re: expensive designers, crazy vintage) or too casual (mostly jeans). But, Jill at at Good Life (For Less) is pretty good at inspiring me with her color and pattern combinations even if she does despise dress pants. So, I’m excited that she’s hosting a giveaway of her Spring 2012 looks:book! All you have to do is follow her blog (and trust me, you’ll want to) and leave a comment!
And speaking of Spring, it appears our early summer weather has been replaced by traditional Chicago Spring weather. Meaning: rain. So, in the interest of full disclosure, this is what I looked like while walking to the office:
Coat – Gap Outlet
Boots – Kamik/Zappos.com
Tags: black skinny jeans, leopard print, red shoes, scarf, stripes

Right now I’m pretty happy with my closet. But even so there are days when I stand there and stare at all the hangers and think, “I wish I had….”
I’ve had all of these clothing pieces in my closet for a long time. I keep wavering on whether or not to keep the cardigan and then it keeps staying.
Pairing the fancy sequined skirt with a neutral colored cardigan and nude heels helps keep it from being too bling-y or overwhelming.
The fact that I paired two pieces that could be considered slightly casual but added heels and a blazer makes my outfit work appropriate without being traditional.

Sniff sniff. I wish I had cute rain boots like yours!
I love red shoes. I just love them. In fact… I think I would like to have more colored shoes! I will check out Jill’s blog!
I bought these red shoes YEARS ago on the clearance rack. I wanted red ballet flats and, lo and behold, I found them right away. Crazy how that works sometimes. I think colored shoes can really add a great “pop” to an outfit.
And I thought you had new rain boots. No?
I do. They just aren’t the ones I really wanted…
Someone (he with no name) wanted me to get the BORING B&W striped ones. Not the blue flowery ones. Really, I want ones with cats on them.
Love that you paired leopard print and blue/white nautical stripes. Thanks for the inspiration!
