This vest and this top were bought when LOFT was having 60% off of all sale merchandise. They were kind of impulse buys but since stripes are really in this year I’m thinking I’ll get a lot of wear out of this top.
The downside to the vest is that it’s made of some kind of furry acrylic and it sheds all over everything. So even though I no longer own dogs my jeans end up looking like I do.
This is what I wore on Valentine’s Day. I had a meeting of my professional organization and, since I’m the president, I like to look professional. Hence the suit. With pink.
After work Jason and I had a “date” to upgrade our iPhones and then have dinner at La Madia. I brought jeans to work so I could change into something a bit more casual.

Amazing how much a blazer really amps up a pair of jeans, right? To be honest, though, this top has never fit quite right (it’s definitely made for someone with a tiny waist and big boobs) and I keep thinking about trying to get it altered. Until then I just wear it under this jacket with kind of hides the weird fit.
Oh, and since these pictures don’t really show the pinstriping on the suit, here’s a close-up:
See? It’s pink! Hence the pink top.
Finally, how about some flowers for V-Day?
Actually, these flowers came on February 7th. That’s Jason’s birthday. Why was I getting flowers on his birthday? Well, he sent them to me with a card that said, “Forgot to send you flowers on your birthday so here are some on mine.”
Sorry for the disappearing act! I wasn’t in my office last Friday so I didn’t post a photo. I was taking part 5 of my six part professional certification exam (I passed!) and then picking my mom up from the train station and hanging out.
Not too sure how I feel about this outfit. I think, once again, it highlights just how short my torso really is. What you can’t see is the shirt has very fine silver pinstripes on it. I’m never really sure what to wear with it. I guess I should look up some inspiration photos for white collared shirts, huh?
I don’t LOVE this shirt with this outfit. I’ve been futzing with it all day and can’t decide whether to wear the jacket open or closed. I have another striped shirt that I might try with this jacket at a later date. But I’m pretty proud of even combining this shirt with this jacket. Without that inspiration photo I would have never thought to do that!
Are you good at mixing patterns or you do mainly stick to solids?
Apparently this is the week of the cardigan. Hey, at least I wore something other than black pants! However, I’m about to start using Pinterest
to “pin” inspiration outfits. Maybe then I can break out of my uniform
Today I skipped the belt and left the cardigan open.
Which way do you prefer?
Since I have no torso I prefer todays’ look. It’s a little “sloppier” but I think it makes me look more proportional.
I have a bonus photo for you!

Tuesday was my husband’s birthday and this is what I wore to go out to dinner. We didn’t go to that fancy of a place but sometimes you’ve just got to get a little dressed up! Especially when your husband bought you the dress for Christmas.
Back to work! This outfit is kind of bland and conforms to my usual work uniform: black pants, colored top, cardigan. I actually bought this top to wear with my black suit but since I don’t need to wear a suit every day I take it down a notch with the cardigan.
Do you have a “uniform” that you find yourself wearing day after day?
Today was the annual Chicago Area Runners Association awards banquet. It was actually a luncheon, though, so I had no idea what to wear! I didn’t want to be too dressy but I also didn’t want to be too casual. Once again, my nightmare scenario. I originally had on a black and white dress with a black cardigan, black knee high heeled boots, and a belt. I felt way too matronly. After pondering my options I ended up with the outfit above. More “fun” even if it was a bit dressier than I was going for.
How about you? If you had a lunch-time awards banquet to attend what would you wear?
